Conventional gravity is the standard. But Central New York soils, water tables, and lot sizes don't always cooperate. We're licensed to design and install every system type permitted in Onondaga County — and we'll tell you which one actually fits your property before any permit is filed.

Conventional Gravity

Standard residential · Onondaga County
Reliable, proven, low-maintenance when properly sized.
Best forMost residential lots with adequate soil depth and percolation rate. The default system for Central NY residential properties on appropriate soils.

Pressure Distribution

Pump-dosed · timed effluent distribution
Even distribution significantly extends drain field life.
Best forSloped lots, marginal soils with lower perc rates, larger households, and situations where maximizing field life is a priority.

Mound System

Elevated drain field construction
Built above grade to achieve adequate soil treatment depth.
Best forProperties with high seasonal water tables, shallow bedrock, or tight clay soils where in-ground systems can't achieve required separation.

Aerobic Treatment Unit

Enhanced secondary treatment · NYSDEC approved
Cleaner effluent and a smaller footprint than conventional systems.
Best forSmall lots, environmentally sensitive areas, shoreline properties, and sites where conventional systems can't meet required setbacks.

Alternative Systems

Engineer-designed · variance-approved by county
Custom solutions for sites that don't fit any standard category.
Best forChallenging lots where no standard system can be permitted — requires an engineer-stamped design and county variance approval. We coordinate both.

Holding Tanks

Tight tank · pump-out only · no discharge
Holds waste until pumped — compliant where no discharge is permitted.
Best forSeasonal camps and cottages, waterfront lots with zero-discharge setback requirements, and properties where no soil-based system can be permitted.
